A 4-step walkthrough from signup to your first sent message — embedded signup, payment method, business verification, and messaging limits explained.
Getting Started
Open the 4-step setup hubWhat is Zaptilo?
Zaptilo is a WhatsApp Business API platform that lets you send bulk campaigns, build chatbot flows, manage contacts, and integrate via REST API. It works on a pay-as-you-go credit model — no subscriptions required.
How do I get started?
Sign up for a free account, connect your WhatsApp Business number via embedded signup, add a payment method in Meta Business, and you're ready to send. Our four-step setup guide at /getting-started walks you through everything end-to-end.
Do I need a WhatsApp Business API account?
Yes. You need an approved WhatsApp Business API number. If you don't have one yet, Zaptilo's embedded signup flow creates one for you in under five minutes — no developer or BSP required.
WhatsApp Setup & Verification
Read the embedded signup walkthroughHow do I connect WhatsApp to Zaptilo?
Log in to web.zaptilo.ai, go to Settings → WhatsApp Settings, and click Setup WhatsApp. A Meta-hosted popup opens — sign in with Facebook, pick or create a Business Portfolio and a WABA, verify a phone number via OTP, and you're connected. Full walkthrough at /setup-whatsapp-with-embedded-signup.
Can I connect more than one WhatsApp number?
Yes. Run the embedded signup flow again from the same WhatsApp Settings page — each run adds another WABA or phone number to your workspace. There's no per-number license cost on Zaptilo (Meta's conversation pricing still applies per number).
What phone number can I use?
Any number not currently active on the WhatsApp consumer or WhatsApp Business app. If your number is on the Business app, delete the WhatsApp account inside that app first. Landline and toll-free numbers work too as long as they receive voice OTP.
Do I need to verify my business in Meta?
To start sending from a new number, no — Tier 1 (1,000 conversations / 24 hours) works without verification. To graduate to Tier 2 (10,000) and higher, yes. Most businesses hit the Tier 1 ceiling within weeks, so we recommend submitting verification in week one. Guide at /verify-business-on-meta-for-whatsapp.
What documents does Meta accept for business verification?
In India, the fastest-approving documents are GST Registration Certificate, Certificate of Incorporation (MCA), MSME / Udyam Certificate, and Shop & Establishment License. Outside India, accepted documents include US Articles of Incorporation, UK Companies House certificates, EU Chamber of Commerce extracts, and UAE Trade Licenses. The legal entity name on the document must match Meta exactly — name mismatch is the #1 cause of rejection.
Why was my business verification rejected?
Top reasons: (1) Business name in Meta doesn't exactly match the document, (2) document is expired or low-resolution, (3) address mismatch (pin code or building number wrong), (4) the domain you listed doesn't show your business name and contact info, (5) personal name on the document while you set a brand name in Meta. Fix the mismatch and resubmit.
How do I get the green tick (blue tick) on WhatsApp Business?
The green checkmark — what many people call 'blue tick' — is Meta's Official Business Account (OBA) badge. It's free but reserved for brands with notable public presence. You apply via WhatsApp Manager → Phone Numbers → your number → Settings → Profile → Apply for Official Business Account. Prerequisite: your business must be verified in Meta first. Most SMBs are rejected on first try; we have a step-by-step application guide at /apply-for-whatsapp-green-tick that covers what evidence Meta actually wants and what to do if you're rejected.
Is the green tick the same as the blue tick on WhatsApp?
Yes. WhatsApp uses a green checkmark for verified Official Business Accounts. Many users call it 'blue tick' because of Twitter / X, but on WhatsApp it's green. Functionally it's the same idea: a Meta-issued trust badge that signals the account is the genuine brand.
Do I need the green tick to send WhatsApp messages?
No. Most Zaptilo customers send millions of messages a year without it. The green tick is purely a trust signal — it doesn't change your messaging tier, conversation pricing, template rules, or limits. It just makes customers more confident that your account is genuine.
Billing & Payments in Meta
Read the payment method guideDoes Zaptilo charge me for WhatsApp messages, or does Meta?
Both, but for different things. Meta charges you directly for conversation fees (per-conversation rate by category and country). Zaptilo charges you for the platform (included credits, plan, add-ons). The payment method you add in Meta Business Manager only covers Meta's conversation fees — your Zaptilo plan is billed separately on zaptilo.ai.
How do I add a payment method for WhatsApp?
Go to business.facebook.com → Business Settings → WhatsApp Accounts → your WABA → Payment Settings, then click Add Payment Method. In India you can add a card (Visa/Mastercard/RuPay/Amex), UPI, or netbanking. Add your GSTIN before the first charge so Meta can issue a valid GST invoice. Full guide at /add-payment-method-to-whatsapp-business.
When does Meta charge my card?
Meta uses a threshold billing model. You accumulate conversation charges as you send messages. When you hit a threshold (₹2,000, then ₹4,000, then ₹8,000…), Meta charges your card. They also charge once a month for any remaining balance. The threshold grows automatically as your account ages and pays reliably.
Will I get a GST invoice from Meta?
Yes, but only if you add your GSTIN in Payment Settings before your first charge. Without GSTIN on file, Meta cannot issue a GST tax invoice and you cannot claim input tax credit. Invoices are not regenerated retroactively, so set GSTIN up front.
My card got declined when Meta tried to charge — what now?
Most common causes: (1) e-mandate / recurring auto-debit blocked under RBI rules, (2) international transactions disabled, (3) daily transaction limit hit, (4) corporate card needs Meta whitelisted by your bank, (5) card less than 30 days old. Fix the issue, add a backup card so this doesn't pause your campaigns, and Meta resumes within an hour of a successful charge.
Messaging Limits & Tiers
Read the tier ramp-up guideHow many WhatsApp messages can I send per day?
Every new number starts at Tier 1: 1,000 business-initiated conversations per 24-hour rolling window. After business verification and sustained clean quality, Meta upgrades you to Tier 2 (10,000), then Tier 3 (100,000), then Unlimited. Customer-initiated service conversations don't count against your tier. Full breakdown at /whatsapp-messaging-limits-explained.
What is a 'conversation' for limit purposes?
A conversation is a 24-hour window with one customer that opens when you send the first business-initiated template message. Once open, you can send unlimited follow-ups to that customer within 24 hours and it still counts as ONE conversation. So 1,000 Tier 1 conversations = up to 1,000 distinct customers contacted in 24 hours.
What is my quality rating and why does it matter?
Meta scores your number Green (High), Yellow (Medium), or Red (Low) based on the previous 7 days of customer feedback — block rates, report rates, low engagement. Quality rating drives tier upgrades AND downgrades. A drop to Red typically downgrades you one tier and can block messaging entirely. Check it in WhatsApp Manager or inside Zaptilo at Settings → WhatsApp Settings.
How do I upgrade my tier faster?
Three things that work: (1) Submit business verification immediately — required for Tier 2+. (2) Only message opted-in contacts with personalized, relevant templates — drives engagement up. (3) Use the right template category (Utility for transactional, Marketing only for promotions) — wrong category hurts engagement and quality. Avoid bulk blasting a stale list from a new number — it's the fastest way to drop to Yellow and lose ground.
I want to send 10,000 messages tomorrow — can I?
Not from a single Tier 1 number — that's a 1,000-conversation cap. Realistic options: (1) Spread across multiple numbers — each new number gets its own Tier 1 quota. (2) Submit business verification now; on a clean account it often promotes to Tier 2 in 1-3 days. (3) For high volume, plan a 2-3 week ramp from a fresh number, sending to your warmest customers first.
Pricing & Credits
How does pay-as-you-go work?
Buy credit packs whenever you need them. Each message, campaign, or chatbot action deducts a small number of credits based on the action type. There are no monthly fees, no annual contracts, and no lock-in periods.
Do credits expire?
No. Your credits stay in your account until you use them. Top up anytime you need more.
How is pricing different from competitors?
Most WhatsApp platforms charge monthly or yearly subscriptions regardless of usage. Zaptilo uses a pure pay-as-you-go model — you only pay for what you actually use, making it much more cost-effective, especially for businesses with variable messaging volumes.
Can I get a custom volume deal?
Absolutely. If you need more than 10,000 credits or have specific requirements, get in touch and we'll put together a custom package for you.
